Atelier's Favorite Home Decor Shops for Unique Finds

Let’s talk home decor shops, shall we? As interior designers we need them and love them. Easily one of the most enjoyable steps in the design process is scouring our favorite stores for unique pieces to deck our clients’ homes out in. With our eclectic style and commitment to bringing color, pattern, culture to each project, the Atelier Interior Design team turns to a mix of stores - none of them alike - for the artwork, objects, vintage pieces, and everything else that makes a house a home. We’ve pulled together our all-time favorites and have shared them below so you too can join in on the home decor shopping fun!

CB2

CB2 - you’ve probably heard of it - is part of the Crate & Barrel family of brands. As they put it on their “about us” page, CB2 offers “furniture and home decor for the modern home”. We agree with this statement but would add that the brand offers affordable, trendy, and modern home decor that is great for filling in the blanks, such as bookshelves. Did someone say shelfies? We find ourselves shopping CB2 for our projects pretty frequently. Actually, if we’re being honest, all the time. Whenever we are nearing the end of a project or have a photoshoot, a CB2 haul is a must.

Since it’s the season for holiday decor, we’ve pulled some of our favorite CB2 favorites to give you a taste of what they have in store:

BLOOM BY ANUSCHKA

BLOOM is a shop in Denver that was started by Anuschka Pashel who has a gifted eye, adventurous soul and passion for creating beautiful things. The store houses a curated and ever-changing inventory of unique florals, art, fine furniture, fabrics, pillows, and more. Why do we love BLOOM here at Atelier Interior Design? Two reasons. #1: the store is local and we’re all about supporting local. #2: BLOOM offers worldly decor that is second to none. Here’s a look at at what you can find:

HOMEBODY

Homebody is a local favorite. In an effort to be an alternative to the big box stores throughout Denver, every item the brand offers has been hand-selected from around the world - Europe, Africa, Japan, Central and South America… the list goes on. Their goal is to stock products that catch the eye and excite senses. Based on our experience, Homebody has absolutely nailed it. Just rad decor overall. Here’s a look:

MODERN NOMAD

Modern Nomad is another Denver shop, however, this one happens to be a design collective featuring new and vintage furniture, textiles, lighting, rugs and accessories for the home. The focus of Modern Nomad is supporting local businesses and providing them a space for their creations to shine. Modern Nomad is on our list of favorites because the shops and vendors change out every so often therefore, you get access to a variety of artisans and unique decor items. Some of their current vendors include:

AMARA

AMARA is an online shop that has really weird, fun, quirky, European, cool stuff - in the words of Atelier. We don’t find ourselves buying from AMARA as often as the other stores listed, but for the right client, we can normally find some really amazing items here. This shop is also great for odd, unique gifts. Here’s a few of their products that help explain our description of this home decor favorite:

STANLEY MARKETPLACE

Last, but certainly not least, we have Stanley Marketplace. If you’re a Coloradoan and know what Stanley Marketplace is, you may be surprised to see it on this list, but we’re telling you, it’s full of really good artisan finds. Similar to Modern Nomad, Stanley Marketplace is a collective of 50+ independently owned small businesses offering everything visitors a place to eat, shop, play, work and more. We often turn to Stanley Marketplace when we want to support local and use items from small artists. Here’s a look at some of their home decor vendors:

So… who’s ready to shop? The ladies at Atelier definitely are! We hope this list of our favorite home decor shops for unique finds inspires you to test your design comfort zone and shop small and local, rather than big box. There are so many great home decor objects to be found with some searching and scouring.
